With the Steam Next Fest going on this week, I expected most of my emails and press releases to be about demos coming to Steam this week. While Lies of P does have a demo you can try right now, there was other news that NEOWIZ (the developers) had in store. NEOWIZ will be collaborating with Koei Tecmo on a sort of crossover collaboration with Koei Tecmo’s Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.

In case you aren’t aware, the press release had this to say about Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty: “Developed by Team NINJA, a division of Japanese game developer and publisher KOEI TECMO GAMES, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is an action Souls-like game set in the Three Kingdoms where players take on the role of a mercenary to fight against fearsome warriors and demonic forces. It was officially released globally in March 2023 and surpassed 1 million copies sold worldwide within the first two months of its release.

This is particularly interesting because of how different Lies of P is in comparison. Inspired by the story of Pinnochio, Lies of P is a Souls-Like set in a Belle Epoque-era world. This historical European stylized setting is drastically different from Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, thus making a collaboration between the two games very surprising. I wonder whether this collab will take the form of DLC costumes, or if it will be more involved, such as some sort of extra level/environment in each game.

It brings to mind how Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has frequently added content, collaborating with games such as Child of Light and Journey. No details have been given on what the collaboration will consist of. However, the press release states that we’ll learn more in September, presumably before Lies of P’s September 19th release date. Regardless of what form it takes, this is a surprising and interesting idea.
