Following up on all of the recent conferences and events being held during this not-E3 time, it’s time for another Capcom Showcase, just like we had last year. We knew a few of the games that would be shown off beforehand, but they managed to sneak some small surprises along with them. Here’s the breakdown of the new Capcom Showcase.
First up was Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. If you watched the Xbox conference the day prior, this one won’t look much different since they showed the same trailer. The only things we learned here were that the game is being made in the RE Engine and that it will also be launching on PlayStation 5 and Steam, in addition to Xbox Series X|S, Windows, and Xbox Game Pass.
Next was Mega Man X Dive Offline. This is an interesting one, especially if you’ve kept up with recent news. Mega Man X Dive began as a F2P game with Mega Man X elements for mobile devices and Steam, with it expanding to multiple territories over the last couple of years. Less than a week ago it was announced that most versions would be ending service this September, except certain mobile versions.
Mega Man X Dive Offline seems to be the answer for the original and Steam versions closing. We don’t know how much this “offline” version might cost, nor if any of the gacha or monetization elements will be taken out. Some fans are also concerned that this won’t include the limited-time collaboration event characters that the original version had. Nonetheless, it does advertise the huge variety of characters they have along with over 900 stages to play. We’ll have to wait until it launches later this year on the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Steam, to find out more.
After a quick excerpt about Street Fighter 6, the next thing was the Resident Evil 4 VR Mode. This mode will be added as a free update to the PlayStation 5 and will be exclusive to PlayStation VR2. They specifically mention the story mode, so it seems that Mercenaries Mode might not be receiving the VR treatment.
The long-awaited Pragmata was next, although its contents aren’t what people were expecting. Just like in 2021 when it was delayed from 2022 to 2023, this trailer announced another delay in an admittedly adorable way. This time around it’s been delayed from 2023 to an indefinite time in the future though. About ten seconds of gameplay were shown, although it’s still difficult to say what kind of game this will be besides a likely action-one.
Next was Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, which is releasing at the end of this month on June 30th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam. Game director Shu Takumi appeared to talk about the title and break down its premise. He also announced that a demo was now available for the game.
Capcom is no stranger to bringing older titles to modern systems through compilations and now we have another one for the Ace Attorney series. Following up on the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy and The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, we now have Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy to look forward to. This compilation will include the latter three entries from the main series: Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice.
It will launch in 2024 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. All three titles will be remastered in HD and are even being updated with seven total languages, with new voice recordings provided for them.
Exoprimal was next and had a lengthy presentation at the showcase. Along with a new story trailer, we had a breakdown of the main mode called Dino Survival. It changes as the story progresses and includes unique boss battles. Other details we learned include that special 5-player missions called Savage Gauntlet that change every week will be available.
Additionally, there are special dinosaurs called Neosaurs, and another map taking place on a space elevator was revealed too. We also got a brief look at Exosuit Variants, which are altered versions of exosuits that are expected to be added after launch. Finally, another open beta test is being held from June 15th to June 18th (UTC).
Ending the showcase was Dragon’s Dogma 2. The trailer shown was the same as the one shown at the recent PlayStation Showcase. However, Hideaki Itsuno was there to provide some new details. On the topic of Pawns, the AI is said to be much better this time around and they’ll be able to assist more capably. The map size will also be enhanced, with it being “roughly four times the size of the original Dragon’s Dogma.”
That covers everything from the new Capcom Showcase. There were a couple of instances where we saw the same trailers again, but it still had a few new things to show. With that out of the way, there are still a few other events to look forward to throughout the week and until the end of the month. Of course, we’ll be covering them for you right here.
