Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 launches in the ‘Wilds’

Fortnite Chapter 4 continued Friday with Season 3: “Wilds.” The entire center of the Island is now collapsed into an ancient jungle with a ton of great new weapons and features. As always, a new Season also brings a few new skins and guest characters from major IP in entertainment. Get ready to roll out with a new addition to the game’s lineup and check out what’s new in the update to Fortnite with this quick rundown.

The quickest thing you’ll notice about the new map in “Wilds” is that the jungle’s canopies make the game much more vertical. Now, you’re finding weapons in trees, sliding in the mud between cliffs to gain camouflage, and increasing your speed by becoming one with the environment. New vines also serve as natural grind rails that help you transport yourself from one side of the new area to the next. It’s little adaptations to things we know about Fortnite that are making this update a great addition to the game.

New weapons also join in Chapter 3, including a Kinetic Boomerang. Players hit enemies and can recall the trusty boomerang to trigger a small explosion, then try again! The Flapjack Rifle, a high-capacity, heavy-hitting weapon that deals high structure damage also joins the lineup. For long-range attacks, the Thermal DMR detects the heat of your enemies.

Plants also now play a role in your ability to outgun, or out-blast, your opponents. Shoot a Bomb Flower to create an explosion, or shoot a Stink Flower to unleash toxic gas on nearby enemies. Not all vegetation is harmful, however, because Slurp Plants can be used to heal you and your team. Raptors also now run wild in the jungle. Yes, you can ride them, and you can jump off of them for a huge boosted jump with a ton of height and range. What’s not to love?

A hostile insect species known as Wildwasps also inhabit the jungle, preferring to swarm around certain plants. Fun fact, you can gather them in a jar and throw them for a funny and effective attack against enemies. If you yourself get caught swarmed by Wildwasps, hop in the water to get rid of the pesky creatures. All of the new additions like these truly make this feel like a fun new game, and it’s not even the entire map. You can still drop in your favorite areas and head this way to explore the “Wilds.”

Explore the Island in style with the Chapter 4 Season 3 Battle Pass. Upon purchasing the Battle Pass, you’ll auto-unlock Era of the new “Ancestral Era” Set. As you progress through the Battle Pass, you’ll unlock Outfits like rock ranger Rian and even Autobot leader Optimus Prime. Later in the Season, wild-time-haver Purradise Meowscles will become available to unlock in the Battle Pass.
