Lake Is Getting A Festive DLC This Season

It has begun, faux3 kicked off yesterday with the very long Guerrilla Collective 2023 Showcase (3 hours! What are you on?). There were a number of interesting games shown off and I got a press release about it. I wasn’t going to watch it, what else did you expect? One thing shown off was a prequel DLC of the 80s Postman Pat ’em Up, Lake. You might remember it from a few years ago, since I’ve spoken about it before, including recently for a Prime Gaming offering.

This time you’ll take on the story of Thomas Weiss. Gamious and Whitethorn Games unveiled the Seasons Greetings DLC, blanketing Providence Oaks in snow. Going only a little further back in time before Meredith took on her dad’s job, you’ll go into the festive season with a lovely Tom Selleck mustache, greying movie star hair, and your trusted van. It is still the same relaxed gameplay with small-town American drama at the head, but this time we’ll be plunged into the Oregon-based winter wonderland.

Gamious’ Creative Director Jos Bouman said, “We can’t wait for players to jump back into Lake’s world, which might look even prettier covered in a layer of snow, and cheered up with lots of Christmas lighting. As far as we know, Season’s Greetings might be the first game that doesn’t just add a visual layer to make it a ‘Christmas game’, but is built from the ground up to let players experience a game in the true spirit of Christmas. With the annual bombardment of Christmas-themed music and movies, we think it’s about time to add a holiday game to that tradition!” Your Die Hard parody better be in there Bouman, it is a Christmas movie after all.

Coming this festive season, you’ll be able to play the Season’s Greetings DLC on PS4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S and One, and on PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam. There is no specific date set yet, though we’ll find that out in the coming months. There is one question I have about this though, as many of us now have Lake on PC via Amazon Games thanks to Prime Gaming. How do those players get the DLC? It will be interesting to know the answer to that one.
