For the past few years, Itch.io has been putting together charity bundles to benefit charity causes. They’ve raised money for reproductive health causes, causes related to the war in Ukraine, and for racial justice and equality. In addition, this is the third year that Itch.io is spending Pride Month raising money to benefit the queer game development community.

The Queer Games Bundle is a collection of 466 games, tabletop games, books, zines, albums, and art designed for game developers, people enjoying games (including tabletop) as well as people who simply enjoy content and creative creations by folks in the LGBTQIA+ community. Itch.io asks that you pay $60 for the bundle, the “Price of a AAA” game, though there are budget-friendly $10-$20 options for those who can’t afford the full price.

Here is what the organizers had to say about the bundle. “If we had the budget of an AAA game, we could give every solo developer in this bundle a livable wage multiple times over for a year and every single team a massive funding boost. Imagine what the developers and artists in this bundle could create a year from now if they weren’t worried about starving or how to pay their rent this month.

The bundle includes things you might not notice or find on storefronts like Steam, including visual novels, smaller Indie titles, and more widely known things like 2064: Read Only Memories. For the queer game dev in your life, there are also assets and other creative things that you can use in your own creations.

So far, the bundle has raised over $17,000 dollars and will be going (if my math is right) until the 7th of July. I’m excited to see how much support and money is raised for these passionate developers and teams. Also, from all of us at Phenixx Gaming, Happy Pride Month!
