Why did this face come back?” You know Donna, I don’t know, but we’ll find out in November. It has been a big weekend, and not just because Eurovision was held in the second gayest place in England, but also because of the ad that rolled before it if you were in the UK. We got a new trailer for Doctor Who with a new face that might look familiar and made its appearance across social media and the aforementioned ad on millions of TVs. Why am I talking about it? The trailer finally gave us the names of the three specials this year.

The first shot is from what we saw being filmed in Camden last year, which I mention because you can see Cyberdog in the background and if you know Camden you know too much about that place. The first of the three specials coming this November is called “The Star Beast,” which seems to be the episode where we saw a random street being shot up by blokes in armor and the first major shots of Yasmin Finney’s Rose. The bug-looking blokes in armor with big red eyes, Wrarth Warriors.

The second special is called “Wild Blue Yonder,” which I’ll admit, once the happiness of Eurovision disappeared and so too did the excitement for the trailer, I was slightly confused. I still am, as this is the episode with Neil Patrick Harris and his timeless almost Celestial Toymaker character we’ve yet to see named. It also features John Logie Baird’s Stookie Bill in a brief clip at about 22 seconds in, and the dummy that Baird used to test this drastic new fangle machine called television. Never heard of that one, must have failed early on!

The third special is the one I’m most curious about called “The Giggle.” What are you on Davies? This is an episode with Beep the (bleeping since swearing in articles isn’t allowed) Meep and possibly Ncuti’s episode to regenerate, and it is called “The Giggle?” All we got for this one was a clip of Donna and Rose Temple-Noble (Noble-Temple?) as Donna pokes Beep in the eyeball. He screams, she screams (we all scream), and that’s it. Admittedly, if you know where the connection is in the specials, you know that it might be a whole arc but that’s all we got for that special (maybe).

To say I am excited for the specials of Doctor Who this November and everything we’ve heard so far in the interim would be an understatement. Just the other week we saw the outs of Segun Akinola, sorry mate but I couldn’t name a single track you did, and the return of the brilliant Murray Gold. Gold did the soundtracks between 2005 and 2017 when Peter, Steven, and himself left. Not only that, but Tennant revealed that similar to 2005-2011’s behind-the-scenes show, Doctor Who Confidential, there will be a new show Doctor Who Unleashed alongside the anniversary specials.
