Armored Core VI Release Date Announced

One of my most anticipated games this year was FromSoftware’s revival of the Armored Core series. Never having played any of the studio’s other titles or previous Armored Core games, I was interested when I heard it would be a sharp departure from the studio’s usual action RPGs. This week PlayStation debuted a full three-minute gameplay trailer for Armored Core VI featuring tons of high-octane mech action combat.

The trailer also confirmed that the release date for Armored Core VI will be August 25th. Even with just a few minutes of gameplay, it’s easy to see the expansive variety of weapons and customization options available for your mech. Combat looks fantastic with encounters that take place on air and land with a high emphasis on mobility. Although ranged combat seems to be the focus it also looks like there will be a good variety of melee weapons available. Additionally, the trailer also offered some glimpses of boss encounters which no doubt are full of the usual FromSoftware polish and creativity.

Furthermore, both the trailer and accompanying press release offered new insights into the story. In the distant future, humanity discovers a powerful and highly volatile energy source known as Coral on the planet Rubicon 3. As a result of humanity’s tampering, the planet suffered a catastrophic event that engulfed the world in fire. Now alien corporations and resistance groups fight over control of Coral on the dead world. You take on the role of a mercenary who infiltrates the planet and quickly becomes immersed in these conflicts.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be available for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. Players who order the deluxe collectors edition will receive the steelbook version of the base game, artbook, digital soundtrack, stickers, pins, and a figurine of one of the mechs from the game.
