The Trine series should be familiar to all fans of co-op puzzle games and adventures. It has been rather silent around the franchise since the previous game (Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince) was released in 2019. Thankfully, the wait is over, and Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy was just announced. According to the press release, it should release this summer if everything goes according to plan.

This fifth installment likely won’t reinvent the wheel, but instead seems fairly familiar to those accustomed to the series. I honestly don’t mind if it is similar. I’ve had some fun with all previous Trine games. I have enjoyed some alone, and some with friends and family. Just like the games before, Trine 5 promises to be just as fun with one person as it is with up to four (online or local), with difficulties freely adjustable to fit every playstyle. The developers are also promising challenging and technically engaging boss fights I can’t wait to see.

One of the most important features is the implementation of dynamic physics. Personally, the physics are what made these games so fun in the first place, with the ability to experiment with objects (and people) in the environment and working your way through puzzles like this.

The visuals also look promising. They are definitely a step up from the previous game from the looks of it. The same goes for the narrative, which was teased in the announcement trailer that was just released. Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is set to release on PC, PS4/PS5, XBOX One, and Series S/X as well as Nintendo Switch.

Hey there! I'm Aaron, 26 and from Germany. I mostly play games with a stronger emphasis on a good story, but occasionally can be found delving into a genre I'm not too accustomed to. Diversity and accessibility are important aspects in gaming for me as well, which are always important conversations to have for me personally.
