While the Arc World Tour Tournament that was held over the weekend revealed a lot for Guilty Gear Strive, there was also some news for DNF Duel. It wasn’t quite as substantial as the former, but it’s still plenty for a title that’s gone so long without updates.

First announced as the first DLC character near the end of last year, we finally got a new trailer with some gameplay snippets for Spectre. Just like much of the rest of the roster, she has fun moves that have a lot of impact. Her gameplay revolves around using two swords, a long one called Obsidian and a shorter one called White Fang. The latter allows her to move in different directions by throwing and then pulling herself to its location. This impressive mobility seems to be well-partnered with her long-reaching slashes.

Unfortunately, there’s only so much to glean from the new trailer. Fans of Dungeon Fighter Online have expected that she would have moves paying homage to what she can do in the original game and that certainly seems like the case. From creating shockwaves to using the tether of White Fang to swing it around, Spectre looks like she’ll make a great transition into a fun fighting game version of the character.

We also learned about the Season pass roadmap they currently have planned. Spectre is set to launch in the summer, which will be around the one-year mark since it initially launched. She’ll be added along with a new Awakening system and a new defensive mechanic that has yet to be detailed. We can expect another new character to drop in the Fall, followed by a character and a stage in the Winter, and two more characters planned for 2024. Whether it’s returning players or new ones who might buy the Nintendo Switch version that’s dropping next month, there will be plenty of reasons to check out DNF Duel again.

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
