It’s certainly shaping up to be a big year for Capcom. Recently, the Japanese studio held a virtual event showcasing their upcoming titles for this year and providing some new information regarding release plans.
The event began with a look at the upcoming Mega Man: Battle Network Legacy Collection. This collection will be releasing April 14th for PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. Additionally, the director Masakazu Eguchi announced the collection will give players access to all 499 patch cards from Battle Network 4 and the sequels. These special promotional cards were only available in Japan and contained various powerups.
In order to access these cards, players had to scan the codes into the game. However, now all of the cards will be available in the game and players have the option to utilize them within Battle Network 4 and the following games included in the collection. The team also has added a mode called Buster Max which increases the Mega busters base damage by 100 and speeds up combat significantly. Essentially, it’s an easier difficulty setting that can be disabled at any time.
Moving onward to Street Fighter 6, Capcom announced the final commentator for the real-time commentary feature. Real-time commentary changes the in-game announcer to that of the voices of famous Fighting Game Community personalities. The final commentator is a famous Japanese actress by the name of Hikaru Takahashi. The finished game will feature seven additional voice commentators with subtitles available for 13 languages. Finally, this segment concluded with a special promotion for the upcoming Capcom Cup which will feature a total prize pool of over 2 million dollars.
In non-gaming news, Capcom then announced the grand opening of a digital theme park exhibit called Capcom Town. This exhibit is a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the company and will open on June 12tj, 2023.
The spotlight then focused on the new upcoming IP, Exoprimal. This spotlight featured a new story-focused trailer as well as an announcement of an open beta test that opens from March 17th through March 19th. Furthermore, this segment announced two new exosuits known as Krieger and Nimbus, filling out the roster to ten total. Finally, the segment concluded with announcements for various preorder bonus features such as exclusive skins, weapons, and more. Exoprimal will release for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS4/PS5, and Xbox One on July 14th, 2023.
