I’m always on the hunt for more interesting deckbuilding games. Aces and Adventures looks to be one of the most exciting upcoming indie titles to release in the coming year. Developed by Triple. B. Titles, the game combines poker with classical fantasy themes to create a fresh new entry in the Deckbuilding Roguelite genre.

According to the co-founder of Triple B. Titles Enrique Dryere, Aces and Adventures originally started as a physical card game but then transitioned to the digital medium. Traditional poker playing cards are utilized as the basis for combat but are augmented by ability cards that players will add to their collection.

This game offers a wide breadth of single-player content for players to get their hands on. The game features five playable characters, each with unique abilities and full voice-acting. Players who seek to master all five characters can expect to experience at least thirteen total campaigns on the road to completion.

The world of Aces and Adventures is stated to be inspired by Nordic and Middle Eastern mythology. The main quest involves saving the magical life tree known as Cardrasil. However, even after beating the main campaign players have the option to continue the fun with randomized levels.

Aces and Adventures will be released exclusively on PC next month on February 23rd. As of January 10th, a playtest version of the game is available for a limited time on Steam. The playtest mode will be available until January 17th. In addition, any progress made throughout the playtest sessions can easily be carried over to the full game upon release. I’m excited to try this game out. Although I’ve never been fantastic at poker, I’m intrigued as to how well it can mix with a fast-paced, digital roguelike formula.

I've been playing games since I was a little kid. I have a soft spot for Nintendo titles and RPG's but play all kinds of titles across a variety of platforms. Outside of games I love to play music and practice martial arts. You can find me on Facebook and Instagram as well.
