Spider-Man 2 PS5 Release Window Confirmed

There was an immeasurable amount of hype at The PlayStation Showcase in 2021 when a teaser trailer for Spider-Man 2 had its world premiere. It capped off with Venom, Iron Spider moves, and plenty of Miles Morales after his PS5 launch title. The 2018 Marvel game received critical acclaim with several Game of the Year awards. It has also been hailed as one of the best superhero games of all time. Finally, the time has come for a more concrete release window: Fall of 2023.

Insomniac Games confirmed over social media that the Fall 2023 release window is set for PS5. With the console entering its third year, it makes sense to develop it for the new gen console to fully embrace the lightning-fast loads, dazzling visuals, and unreal performance. I felt the woes of God of War: Ragnarok being multi-generational, as its long load times were not-so-masked. However, with the PlayStation 5 being as available as ever thanks to stores stocking it and PS Direct having them daily, this could be the push needed for PS4 owners to upgrade.

Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales have both made their way to PC as well, in Sony’s ongoing effort to place their original IPs onto the platform – as usual, they did so with flying colors in each iteration, uncapping the framerate, supporting widescreen monitors, and performing perfectly. I would expect this title to migrate to PC after a year or two, but impatient gamers like myself will enjoy it from the start on PS5.

Between this and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse receiving its trailer this week, it’s a great time to be a Spider-Fan. With No Way Home, two fantastic games on modern consoles, and plenty to look forward to, this announcement feels like icing on the cake. Insomniac Games has put out nothing but gold for decades and only seems to be getting better. Expect Spider-Man 2 to dazzle a year from now
