One of my favorite games from 2018, if not my absolute favorite from that year, was Gris. I instantly fell in love with its visual variety, calming music, and striking yet minimalistic story. All of this is of course further brought to life by the beautiful art style that makes great use of watercolor-like animations and colorful fog. Even playing it years later to write a review piece, I found myself still enjoying every moment of it.

It has steadily come to more platforms since its original release on PC and Nintendo Switch. One year later it was on iOS and PlayStation 4. Only five months after that was its Android release. Now it’s expanded to the remaining console platforms with a heaping of updates in time for its fourth anniversary.

Considering it was on PlayStation 4 already, it should come as no surprise to see a release for PlayStation 5. This version runs the best out of all the new platforms at 4K and 120fps. DualSense integration is also being added and will make use of the haptics, speaker, and more according to a Twitter post from the developers. Anyone who owns the title on PlayStation 4 will be thrilled to know that an upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version will be available to them for free.

What may arguably be the most exciting part of these new releases is that the title will finally be coming out for Xbox platforms. With Xbox Series S it can run at 2K and 120fps, while the Xbox Series X is capable of running it at the same settings or at 4K and 60fps. On top of all that, an Xbox One version is available as well. I can’t deny that I’m happy to see Gris receive attention again and I hope more people can experience it for the first time.

Samuel Moreno

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
