Monday, Elden Ring might have become the first board game I’ll actively play without being bored and I really hope doesn’t Jumanji itself. Tuesday, Reddit got happy as “anime princess” the game, Genshin Impact updated to 3.3. Wednesday, Switch Sports updated to finally add what I’d trounce everyone at on Wii Sports back in my heyday, and the RPG Soccer Story was released amid the International Federation of Association Football’s International slave labor cup on PC and Console. Thursday, Prime Gaming for this month slopped out like a turd during my morning crossword, and Overwatch 2‘s Season 2 is certainly there now, isn’t it?

Moving on to this week’s double bill on the Epic Games Store, we’ll start with Fort Triumph. A turn-based tactics RPG from Kickstarter, Fort Triumph is another one of those RPGs that I’d normally attempt at some point but currently, it fails to grab me. As I said last week, I think it is the art style that is lacking that allure to pull me towards it over the several hundred other games vying for attention.

Oddly enough, RPG in a Box being a voxel-art game-maker tool has the unique selling point to pull me into the idea of spending my end-of-year break making a short RPG, for fun. Yes, it does mean that all the games created with RPG in a Box are a bit similar, but that never stopped all the Final Fantasy 2-like RPGs on Steam from at least selling. As a tool to put you in the mind of early development for games, RPG in a Box is a great idea to learn the basics and heartbreak of making a game.

All this week you can pick up RPG in a Box and Fort Triumph on the Epic Games Store until Thursday, the 8th of December. Moving on to next week’s offerings it is strange: A bullet hell dungeon-crawler, Wildcat Gun Machine is the indie offering with the color magenta being the primary tone, and to my chagrin, we also get Saint’s Row IV: Re-elected. I’m sure I’ll have a lot to say next week as I attempt to finish off 70,000 words for our break. I’m sure I won’t moan too much about the aliens and the redo of The Third‘s map.
