Monday, fans of Special Containment Procedures will officially get a second game, and Rocket League and the shoe people are doing something about that international slave labor cup. Tuesday, if you’ve seen US TV you know house flipping shows have popped up left, right, and center, and the same has happened since House Flipper too, now with monuments. Wednesday, the remainder of Game Pass was announced for the month, and Chess designed for people who don’t like chess was revealed for 2023. Thursday, there is a new meaning to choking a Smurf, especially after they are dropping blue shells, and one of those 2D fighters some people obsess over now has a webcomic.
Moving on to the Epic Games Store‘s free offerings this week: I’ll start with what Alexx has reviewed (twice) and talk about Dark Deity. Developed by Sword & Ace LLC and released in 2021 following a successful Kickstarter campaign, Dark Deity was designed to basically be an old Fire Emblem game. If there is one thing Kickstarter loves, it is nostalgia for an old JRPG. See, that’s the problem with me doing this, despite writing a review for the Square game (it sure ain’t an Enix title) Triangle Strategy, I’m known for my displeasure with JRPGs. I won’t hide that to promote a pretty game, but I will say as I almost always do, it is free and there are reviews on the site if you need more persuasion.
Next up, a surprise that has disappointed me: I have to once again talk about Epic’s other battle royale nonsense with cheese. It is a full week of things I don’t like (and sometimes despise) so be warned of that for the next thing. Rumbleverse is another one of those characterless boxes kids are playing with these days, like cats with the box their toys came in. I can’t be bothered with any of it, but Epic is offering once again one of those cosmetic packs. The Epic Cheerleader Pack gives you a tiny little skirt, what looks like a training bra, some pigtails, and some pom poms, you’ll look like the prettiest princess.
Finally, we have the 2022 release from this week’s list. I’ll recycle my joke from last week as it is still true: The only Ash I’ve ever cared about was often asked what she’s playing. One of those asymmetric survival-horror things with multiplayer on the side (the whole game), Evil Dead: The Game is much like your Dead By Daylight and Friday the 13th: The Game, i.e passé attempts to revive a tired IP with the help of contrite multiplayer elements that will be more undead 2-3 years from now than half the zombies. You might be sensing a theme here where I don’t like multiplayer, so we’ll move on.
All this week you can pick up Evil Dead: The Game, Dark Deity, and the Epic Cheerleader Pack for Rumbleverse at the low-low price of free on the Epic Games Store until the 24th of Novembre (that’s the Latin way of spelling it). Now the language lesson is over, let’s move on to next week which is currently a single game, hallelujah! Don’t worry, you won’t be the only one asking “Y?” as I’m sure there may be a few Y-Wings in Star Wars: Squadrons. It is effectively the space battles from Battlefront II but without all that fun terrorism on the Star Destroyers.
