It’s only been three weeks since Overwatch 2 launched, and it’s already time for the first seasonal event. Given the time of the year, fans of its predecessor should know all too well some of the things to expect from Halloween Terror 2022. While there is returning content for new and old players alike, there’s also a great deal of new content and rewards to unlock/purchase.

The limited-time event has changed a lot over the years since the 2016 event, with each iteration typically adding more themed playable characters, modes, and rewards. Headlining the biggest change this year is the addition of the Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride co-op mission. Rather than being a single location wave-based mission like its predecessor, players explore much more of Adlersbrunn as they complete objectives to make their way to the castle. Once again this is represented by a modified version of the Eichenwalde map and four heroes to choose from: Ashe, Junker Queen, Kiriko, and Sojourn.

An updated seasonal event also means new cosmetic content. Although loot boxes are not available in Overwatch 2, players will be able to unlock them through the shop. Two new legendary skins are available for two of the new launch heroes, Witch Kiriko and Executioner Junker Queen. Both are available on the shop for credits, with a bundle available for the former that comes with the skin, a highlight intro, and other themed goodies.

There are some free rewards to unlock too. Completing exclusive challenges will also grant new rewards. such as weapon charms, battle pass XP, and name cards. Winston’s Legendary Werewolf skin, which originally made its debut with the 2020 iteration of the event, can also be earned for one week as a Twitch drop. Watching two hours of streamers playing the game unlocks a themed spray while watching four hours will unlock the skin itself.

Old content will be returning for those who missed out on previous events or never unlocked that one skin they wanted. Everything from Moira’s Witch skin to D.Va’s Shin-Ryeong is available to purchase with credits from the hero gallery, while the shop is refreshing weekly with bundles for these older skins as well. The previous Junkenstein’s Revenge co-op mission can also be played along with the new one within the Arcade. All of this will be available for two weeks until November 8th.

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
