Triangle Strategy Brings Its Tactical Prowess to PC

I think it’s insane how many games Square Enix is putting out right now that are seemingly developed to hit a ton of my personal gaming interests. Now, I know that they’re not developing these games just for me. As a 90s kid, there’s a lot of nostalgia in the prime of Squaresoft’s library, and there are some great games coming out that hit on that in some great ways. One example, Triangle Strategy, was a favorite of mine earlier this year when it was released for Nintendo Switch. Now, PC gamers can check Triangle Strategy out as it arrives today on Steam and other digital game stores.

Starting today, Triangle Strategy is no longer a Nintendo Switch exclusive. The game which takes its core spirit from the heyday of tactical RPGs is now available on PC and Steam. If you’re a little on the fence about trying it out, I’m happy to say that I enjoyed my time with the game on Switch. There are a few things about the game I’d like to see adapted, including a ton of dialogue that makes it feel like a book more than a video game. That said, there are things to celebrate about the game as well.

For starters, you get to change the game’s story by choosing a path of philosophy between three options. It’s a fun way to mix up a bit of what happens, as is the use of the game’s 30 characters that really mix up your experience. Of course, these characters have different skills and special attacks that help you change the tides of battle. As you upgrade your favorites, as you can imagine, they become more powerful. This game also harnesses the new trend of HD-2D, a style made popular by Octopath Traveler.

There’s also a ton of gameplay to be enjoyed here. How Long To Beat rates the game as 33.5 hours to beat, but it took me closer to 40. If you want to get in the cracks and crevices of what the game offers, you could easily put 50 hours into the experience. I think for fans of strategy RPGs or tactical games, this is a great pickup that’ll keep you busy until winter arrives. You can grab the game on Steam here.
