After an extremely packed September that concluded with ten games coming in the month’s second wave, it’s time for the next wave to begin and start the month of October. This time around we have a whopping nine games set to come out and four of them will be day one releases.

Up first and available now is Chivalry 2 for cloud, console, and PC. This first-person medieval warfare experience builds upon its predecessor with updated graphics and smoother combat. Just as noticeable is the overall scale of the game, with larger maps and up to 64 players fighting at once in one match.

If that doesn’t quite scratch enough of your medieval itch, October 6th will also see Medieval Dynasty being made available for Xbox Series X|S. Instead of focusing purely on combat against other players, this is a single-player open-world title where the goal is to leave your name on the world by establishing your own dynasty. This is accomplished by taking on quests as well as through crafting and surviving.

Joining it are the first two seasons of Telltale Games’ entry into a dreadful undead world. The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season and The Walking Dead: Season Two will both be available on October 6th for PC. In each game, players will follow a five-part storyline and engage in difficult decisions with various survivors as they create their own unique experiences.

The next two games are being added on October 11th. Coming to cloud and console is Double Fine Productions’ 2011 Halloween adventure, Costume Quest. Along with trick-or-treating for some holiday candy, various costumes and weapons can be collected to battle against the evil Repugians.

That same day will see the first day one release of the month with Eville on console and PC. Taking inspiration from popular social-deduction party games, a group of players will find themselves in the roles of villagers trying to deduce who among them is a murderer. Various roles with different abilities will be randomly assigned, requiring innocent villagers and conspirators alike to adjust how they use their skill sets to survive.

October 13th will see the day one release of Dyson Sphere Program for PC. Procedurally-generated universes and intergalactic resource building combine in this factory-simulation title. This one may sound familiar to some as it was one of the games mentioned during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show presentation a few weeks ago.

Another day one release follows on the next day for cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S with Scorn. Featuring a grisly open-ended world, this first-person adventure seeps itself into horror through unsettling environments in various interconnected areas. A focus on in-game storytelling and character body usage increase the player immersion in this nightmarish setting.

Last, but certainly not least, is the highly anticipated day one release of A Plague Tale: Requiem for cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. Acting as a direct sequel to the well-received A Plague Tale: Innocence, it follows Amicia and Hugo as they travel to Southern France to help the latter. New features are accompanied by the expansion of both gameplay mechanics and area sizes.

That leaves us with the titles that will be leaving the service. Players have until October 15th to check the following games before they leave the Xbox Game Pass library: Bloodroots, Echo Generation, Into The Pit, Ring of Pain, Sable, and The Good Life.

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
