Moonbreaker - Early Access Available Now

Out of the myriad game announcements and news from this year’s Gamescom convention, Moonbreaker was one of my personal favorites. Developed by Unknown Worlds, most known for their work on Subnautica, Moonbreaker is an upcoming tactical roleplaying game. This game seeks to replicate the feeling of classic tabletop miniature games, such as Warhammer 40K, in a digital format. Players can customize and paint their armies to ensure each force has a unique style.

On top of all this, the team has worked extensively with one of my personal favorite authors, Brandon Sanderson, in order to develop the Sci-Fi universe. Worldbuilding is easily Sanderson’s strongest talent across all of his books, so I’m anticipating Moonbreaker will offer a truly exceptional experience in this aspect.

As of September the 30th, Unknown Worlds has announced Moonbreaker will be entering Early Access on Steam. Charlie Cleveland, Game director at Unknown Worlds, had this to say: “We are committed to working closely with [publisher] Krafton and Moonbreaker’s community to build the game into something truly special and long lasting. We look at today’s Early Access launch as the first in many chapters, and we can’t wait for our community to see what we have in store for this game in the coming months.”

The Early Access event will kick off the first season of Moonbreaker, and by playing the game players can unlock various cosmetics, in addition to an exclusive paint skin for a commander unit by the name of Extilior. Lastly, players that register their accounts to join the Moonbreaker Premiere Program before October 31st will receive an additional exclusive paint scheme dubbed “Gloomside.”

Moonbreaker Early Access is available for purchase on Steam for Windows and Mac. There is currently no official release date available, but I imagine the game will be releasing sometime in 2023.
