I called it, didn’t I? I said when the information I’m about to discuss was initially leaked back in August that Blizzard would probably confirm World of Warcraft: Dragonflight’s release date eventually. Now it seems they’ve done exactly that in a new announcement trailer that I’ve linked below. Dragonflight’s release date has now essentially been set in stone, barring any last-minute delays like its predecessor suffered. Let’s discuss some additional details Blizzard has included about this whole scenario, shall we?
The expansion is scheduled to launch on North American servers on Monday, November 28th, 2022 at 3pm Pacific Time or whatever that equates to in your region. Following that, Dragonflight’s first season will begin the week of December 12th. At this point, in addition to the new PvP season, the expansion’s first raid (Vault of the Incarnates) will open and a new rotation of Mythic+ dungeons will take effect.
In the news post I linked above, Blizzard also discusses several aspects (pun possibly intended) of what Dragonflight will contain. For example, they go into a bit of detail about the updated profession systems, new talent trees, and the significantly more robust user interface (UI) customization systems. Considering I don’t really know much about any of this stuff yet because I didn’t get into the beta test, I suggest you check out Wowhead’s resources if you’d like more information on any of these topics.
Finally, I want to mention the portion of this announcement that has me the most excited. Blizzard has also revealed that from October 4th until the day Dragonflight’s pre-expansion update goes live, they’ll be bringing back the Winds of Wisdom 50% experience buff for all characters between levels 10 and 59. The thing is, we don’t currently know exactly when the pre-patch will be released, so we don’t know for how long the buff will be active. Don’t quote me on this, but my intuition tells me it could be about two weeks before the full expansion’s launch, which puts us at the week of November 15th.
Personally, I’m quite excited for the launch of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Even though Shadowlands has started to grow on me now that I’ve unlocked the ability to fly in that expansion’s zones, I’m most assuredly ready for some new content to explore. What are your thoughts on the confirmation of this release date, dear reader? Will you be heading to the Dragon Isles alongside everyone else or at least taking advantage of the experience buff? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
