LEGO Star Wars - Galactic Edition Announced

The LEGO Star Wars series is something I will always look back on quite fondly. The original game was released back in 2005 and was the first video game I ever completed 100%. I had all the characters, collectibles, and even secret cheat codes that changed elements of the gameplay. My best friend and I spent hours grinding through levels and playing out our favorite battles between characters. However, after being disappointed by the Disney Star Wars trilogy and some of the recent Disney Plus shows, I passed on LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga when it was released this past April.

Fortunately, this has turned out to be a good thing. On Friday, September 24th, Warner Bros. announced that a new version of the game dubbed the “Galactic Edition” will be released on November 1st, 2022. This new version will not only contain levels from all nine original films but will also feature six new character packs. Additionally, the seven character packs from the “Character Pack 1” bundle will be included for a grand total of thirteen additional character packs.

These six new character packs will focus on the most recent and upcoming TV shows such as Star Wars: Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Book of Boba Fett. Also included is the Summer Vacation TV Special pack. However, the most exciting character packs for me are the two focused on Star Wars: Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Clone Wars is one of the best pieces of Star Wars media out there and I’m excited by the idea of playing as some of my favorite characters such as Fives, or Captain Rex. Rebels was significantly worse in quality yet also delivered some compelling characters. I’m happy to see some attention given to it as well. In total, these new character packs will add more than thirty additional characters for you to adventure across the galaxy with.

Finally, those who purchase the game digitally will receive an exclusive bonus character Classic Obi-Wan Kenobi. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Galactic Edition will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4/5, and Nintendo Switch.
