This weekend during the Tokyo Games Show, publisher Koei Tecmo announced the launch of a demo for the upcoming action game Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The demo became available on the 16th of September and will continue to be until next Monday the 26th in Europe, and Sunday the 25th in North America. Currently, the demo is only available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

Developed by Team Ninja, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is set in ancient China during the Three Kingdoms period, which takes place roughly between 220-280 AD. This interpretation of the setting also incorporates many elements of Chinese mythology, as the player is tasked with freeing the world from demons that plague the landscape. The combat is strongly inspired by Chinese martial arts and sword forms but maintains some elements from the Souls-like combat system of the Nioh series, also developed by Team Ninja.

This demo will focus on giving players a taste of the character creator, combat, and online multiplayer. Koei Tecmo has also released a brief gameplay tutorial of the demo that gives some additional insights. Combat focuses on building a spirit gauge with successive attacks in order to unleash powerful magic or finishers. This is complemented by an RPG progression system that allows for a variety of different builds.

Incentives for completing the demo and participating in the player feedback survey were also announced. Players who finish the demo will receive the exclusive “Crouching Dragon Helmet” item that can be then transferred to the main game. For participating in the customer feedback survey, players will also receive an exclusive wallpaper as an additional bonus.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is scheduled to be released in early 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4/5, and PC.
