The only game that’s been on my mind and on my screens lately has been Vampire Survivors. With a gameplay loop that rewards you every single run, I had a similar experience feeling this natural progression when I sunk into Rogue Legacy back in 2015, and haven’t felt this enthralled in years. While I’m late to the Vampire party, as Vampire Survivors entered early access last December, I came at the perfect time. As Vampire Survivors is set for a price increase and its official full release very soon.

The premise of Vampire Survivors is simple: you start with your character’s level at 1, and choose your upgrades with each subsequent level after collecting enough XP from dead enemies. Whether it’s a boomerang, a movement speed increase, or a wider collecting field, you’re ultimately in control as hordes of supernatural baddies do their best to overwhelm you in quantity. Strong kitting and experimentation make for an involved, edge-of-your-seat experience for short bursts as you collect as much gold as you can to power up before the next run, unlocking secrets all along the way.

Vampire Survivors sits at an overwhelmingly-positive rating on Steam, with currently 98% of the 116,000+ reviews loving the game. At the measly price point of $2.99, it’s less than a cup of coffee to fuel dozens of hours of fun. A no-brainer for the consumer. It’s only fair, then, that developer poncle will be “slightly” increasing the price on September 21st. My guess is it’ll only be a few dollars if “slightly” is anything to go off of, but as Vampire Survivors is nearly fully-fleshed out, it’s still going to be worth every penny.

It says a lot that I know that I’m just scratching the surface of what Vampire Survivors has to offer with six hours in, as I’ve been glued to the wiki to improve my runs and discovered that I only had about 1/4 of the characters, stages, items, and other aspects unlocked. The best time to get into Vampire Survivors is right now, as it’s surely something your friends are going to be talking about soon. If they aren’t already.
