I tend to dislike reporting on Nintendo-related rumors, but I’m making an exception for this one due to my personal level of interest in it, providing it turns out to be true. I first learned about this rumor from Eurogamer, who in turn cited GamesBeat managing editor Mike Minotti and Jeff Grubb as their sources. Essentially, this rumor claims that there will be a Nintendo Direct sometime in September, during which the company will reportedly reveal the upcoming Switch ports of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.

According to Jeff Grubb: “The specifics that were name-dropped [for this Direct] were Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD ports to the Switch.” Beyond that, all Eurogamer’s sources could do was speculate as to what sort of Direct this would be and what else might be announced within it. There’s apparently been talk of a Switch remaster of the first Metroid Prime, for example. As I said, I don’t usually like reporting on rumors like this which have so little concrete evidence, but I’m personally very much looking forward to potential Switch ports of those Zelda games.

If these ports are indeed about to be revealed, I would most assuredly consider them worthwhile, especially considering I’ve never finished Twilight Princess and never played Wind Waker at all. I just desperately hope Nintendo is reasonable about releasing and maintaining these new ports if they do in fact exist. I may need time to save up to purchase them if they’re announced anytime soon, so I absolutely don’t want Nintendo to do what they did with that Switch collection of the three Super Mario ports last year.

That’s enough about what I want to see, though. What are your thoughts on the potential new versions of these two quite popular Legend of Zelda games finding their homes on the Switch? What else do you want to see at this rumored Direct at some point this month? Do feel free to share your opinions in this article’s comments if you’re so inclined.
