Monday, in a surprise that was predated by news reports akin to saucepans flying down a flight of stairs, Death Stranding came to Game Pass, and there are only a few days left to pre-order Limited Run’s KOTOR 2 bundles. Tuesday, going like the Village People, Black Myth: Wulong revealed new gameplay. Wednesday, Blizzard might be desperate as the company offers lapsed players Shadowlands for free, and eBay acquired a massive TCG trading marketplace. Thursday, the God of Rock (not thunder) set out for a rhythm-based release later this year, and before Gundam Evolution has even released, the game has an eSports Team.

Moving on to this week’s free game on the Epic Games Store and the surprise, we’ll begin with the latter. Mostly on account that I find Destiny 2 about as interesting as listening to a beige man’s step-by-step recounting of his backpacking tour of the West Midlands, it is not very exciting. As part of Bungie’s 30th-anniversary pack, you can get access to a new dungeon, the dyslexic’s nightmare that is the Gjallarhorn Exotic Rocket Launcher, new weapons, armor, and more. That said, unlike the game this week, the Destiny 2 bundle is only available until the 30th of August.

Now on to the game itself, Ring of Pain is a beautifully horrific card game with character art that is sort of watercolor with better-defined lines. Ring of Pain is a dungeon-crawling Rogue-lite, because if you aren’t one of those you just aren’t one of the cool kids anymore, apparently. To say I would personally pick up Ring of Pain and play it would be a lie, I have to admit, as the gameplay focuses on turn-based combat. Something that I have a very selective relationship with in the first place. Though for those that enjoy horror and turn-based card-battlers, Ring of Pain will be an absolute treat.

All this week you can pick up Ring of Pain on the Epic Games Store until the morning of the 1st of September. As already mentioned, you’ll also be able to pick up Destiny 2’s Bungie 30th-anniversary bundle until the 30th of August. Moving on to next week and we’re being hit with a triple-bill. Fans of the originally EA-backed free-to-play game Knockout City who login next week can get the Armazillo DLC pack, while those of us in non-free-to–play land can get Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Submerged: Hidden Depths.
