Normally, I go in blind and joke about the news, but I’ve been editing a lot this week, so this might be different. Monday, Multiversus‘ first season became available, an Avatar (the anime) RPG is heading to mobile, and a new monster is coming to VHS. Tuesday, Ship of Fools is FTL meats Don’t Starve, and D23 will bring a lot of news on upcoming games. Wednesday, Neon Abyss got another update for PC and consoles, Blizzard is a mighty leaky place, and Game Pass got a bunch of new additions. Thursday, My Hero Academia‘s Superman joined the mobile game, and Tekken 7 may have gotten its last update.

It’s a double-bill this week on the Epic Games Store, though it is practically singular when the second offering is that of so-called “content” for the new Free-to-Play Battle Royale Brawler, Rumbleverse. As I say a lot when it comes to these articles, these Free-to-Play things that yell “$100 value” are practically lying, as it is the publisher (Epic in this case) that sets that value on something that is inherently valueless.

Moving on to what you’ve seen in the title, Doom 64 is the remaster of the N64 and the fourth game/spin-off in the “classic Doom” series. Usually, I’m here to sell the free thing to you, but we’re talking about Doom and presently if you look at the upcoming indie games for the next month, there is a whole contingent of these “boomer-shooters” that are on the horizon. I even reviewed one this year. Selling one of the progenitors to all of these is like trying to sell a BMW driver two parking spots for their only car, effortless as it turns out.

All this week, you can pick up Doom 64 and Rumbleverse‘s Boom Boxer pack for free on the Epic Games Store, until the 25th of August. Moving on to next week: I’ll have to figure out what Humble Games’ Ring of Pain happens to be. Typically, I have some idea ahead of time, and I think it is a Roguelike Monster Card Battler, but I don’t know because the art style looks too smudged to get a sense of the monsters.
