If you managed to play through everything that was added in the first August wave, you’ll be happy to hear that it’s time for a new wave for the rest of the month. There are eight games to look forward to with some filled with thrilling action and at least one including relaxing conversations over a cup of coffee. Those who want brand-new titles will be satisfied too, as half of the new additions will be day-one releases. So let’s go over what’s upcoming with the second August wave.
Immediately available now for cloud, console, and PC, is Coffee Talk. Players take on the role of a barista and coffee shop owner who serves patrons fresh coffee and listens in on their problems. Although the problems will resonate with modern-day issues, the game takes place in a fantasy-inspired version of Seattle and will have you serve aliens and elves alike. You can read David’s review here.
The next game to be added will come in a week, on August 23rd. Midnight Fight Express is a day-one release coming to cloud, console, and PC. It follows the protagonist Babyface, someone who used to be a part of the criminal underworld and is brought back to stop an apparent criminal takeover. Whether you’re looking to be tactical or over-the-top, both combat abilities and clothing can reflect your preferred style as you fight across the city.
August 25th will see two more games being added. First and coming to console and PC is Opus: Echo of Starsong – Full Bloom Edition. Whether you’re a seasoned visual novel player or someone interested in something new, you’ll definitely want to check out this space-faring adventure. This definitive edition of the game also adds voice acting.
Coming alongside it on PC is Exapunks. From TV stations to banks, you’ll hack into various networks in this programming-based puzzle game. If you’re a fan of Zachtronics, who also had Shenzhen I/O added a couple of weeks ago and Last Call BBS added last month, this is certainly worth your time.
The last four games are all being added on August 30th. First among them and coming to cloud, console, and PC is Immortals Fenyx Rising. Developed by Ubisoft and featuring an open world based on Greek mythology, the game focuses on a mortal trying to save humanity and the gods as well. You can read Alexx’s review on the Switch version here.
Following this up are three day-one releases. Commandos 3 – HD Remaster will be available for cloud, console, and PC. The original version of this world War II-based RTS was released back in 2003 and the remaster features improved controls, new models, and a revamped UI.
Playing a Pikmin game outside of mobile or Nintendo hardware may not be possible, but an alternative is coming to console and PC with Tinykin. Taking place in a house that’s filled with different rooms and bug-led cities, players will take control of the somehow shrunk Milo and command a horde of uniquely-powered tinykin to explore and find his way back home.
Immortality is the last game of the month and will be available on cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game tasks the player with finding a missing actress by watching clips and searching for clues related to her three never-released films. It’s the latest work from Sam Barlow, creator of popular interactive film games such as Telling Lies and Her Story. For those who enjoyed those games when they were added back in February and May respectively, this looks like another fun experience to sink your teeth into.
As always, there are some games that we have to say goodbye to and this time around there are ten leaving. August 31st will be the last day to play the following games: Elite Dangerous, Hades, Myst, NBA 2K22, Signs of the Sojourner, Spiritfarer, Twelve Minutes, Two Point Hospital, What Remains of Edith Finch, and World War Z.
