Whether you’ll be there in person or watching panels online, there’s plenty to look forward to during Disney’s D23 Expo next month. The weekend-long event is known for showcasing first looks and new reveals for their works, and most are incredibly excited for new film or tv series content to be shown too. Now we have something else to anticipate as the first Disney & Marvel Games Showcase will be hosted at the event on September 9th, at 1 P.M PT. It will be live streamed to a variety of social media channels dedicated to the expo itself as well as the Disney and the Marvel Entertainment platforms.

A post on the D23 website hints at what we’ll see, “The digital showcase will feature incredible new content from Disney & Pixar Games, Marvel Games, Lucasfilm Games, and 20th Century Games. In addition to all-new announcements, fans can expect new reveals from titles including Disney Dreamlight Valley, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, and LEGO® Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, as well as a sneak peek at an upcoming Marvel ensemble game from Skydance New Media.”

The timing for these new reveals is exciting alone. Disney Dreamlight Valley is set for an early access release on September 6th, meaning players won’t have to wait long after to find out what’s planned. Marvel’s Midnight Suns announced a second delay last week and could use a big reveal to keep people excited. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga came out a few months ago and has already released all of its previously announced DLC, so it will be interesting to see what else is coming.

It’s also been known that Skydance New Media is developing a narrative-driven action game based on the Marvel Universe, but this is the first time it’s been described as a “Marvel ensemble game.” A narrative focus would presumably mean the ensemble refers to a group or team of heroes the game will lead with, although something expansive such as the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series may not be out of the question.

That won’t be everything though and the announcement video alone proves that. A brief clip of a game based on the Avatar film series could very well mean a look at Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. There are also a couple of clips from Aliens: Dark Descent, the top-down RTS that debuted at Summer Game Fest. The combat racer Disney Speedstorm and the multiplayer card game Marvel Snap were also snuck into the montage. It goes without saying that between all of the properties under Disney and Marvel, there is plenty to be excited about whether it’s for current games or something unknown.

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
