Video Horror Society Hints at New Monster

It has been almost a month since Video Horror Society launched into Early Access on Steam! To celebrate this milestone, the developers released an article on the state of the game, the improvements that will come over time, and new content that will be entering the game soon. For those who are reading this article and are unfamiliar with Video Horror Society, allow me to fill you in.

Video Horror Society (VHS for short) is a 4v1 Asymmetrical Horror Game where the Teens fight back. The four teens are tasked with creating weapons to attack the monster while the monster has to do anything and everything to disrupt the teens and ultimately kill them.

Going back to the article, the developers first presented the three big issues that they are looking into fixing. These are Queue Times & Dead Lobbies, Monster Gameplay Experience, and Store & Purchasing Items. While there are some fixes that they are going to implement sooner rather than later for some of these changes, they have said that they are going to be adding new code to the game.

They will also be talking more with the community in order to pinpoint the exact reasons behind the problems. This way they can pinpoint the issues rather than just throwing random fixes at them or not fixing them at all. They’re attempting to avoid problems that are often what some developers in the genre tend to do.

The new content that they showed off was of two significant things. The first was the Endless Summer Catalogue, a collection of summer-themed cosmetics for both the Teens and the Monsters. These cosmetics will be in the store starting next week and will stay there until September 21st.

Everything from sandals and floaties for the Monsters to Sailor Uniforms and Golf Attire for the Teens and much more is available. Of course, the biggest part of the collection is the Shark skin for the W.A.R.T. that is definitely giving off some Jaws vibes!

The final part of the developers’ article was a sneak peak at both the newest Teen and Monster that will be joining Video Horror Society. The new Teen is named Reggie, who is someone that was somewhat revealed to the community a bit earlier. The Monster, while not physically on the trailer, shows up as the video gets “corrupted” by what looks like a targeting/scanning array and various binary code. The binary code in the description has been translated by many people in the comments and states: “I am the star. This show is mine. He is mine.”

This would seem to indicate that this new Monster might be a mix between the Cybermen from Doctor Who and the Terminator. However, it could very much be a cyborg t-rex that was hinted at by the devs on their Discord server on July 25th. The new Monster appears to think that it is on a show and that perhaps Reggie looks like the nemesis of the Monster’s character on that show.
