As some among our audience may know, Season 4 of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is currently active as of the time of this article’s publication. Blizzard Entertainment has stated that they plan for this season to be shorter and more experimental than past seasons, so they’ve announced a couple of changes. Here is a brief rundown of everything Blizzard has recently announced as far as most forms of structured PvP combat (such as Battlegrounds) are concerned.

Unless otherwise noted, every alteration I’m going to discuss in this article will go live with the next weekly reset. This will take place on Tuesday, August 16th, 2022 on North American servers. With that said, I’m sure the change most players will notice most is that Blizzard will be removing the cap on the amount of Conquest players can possess at any given time. Although Blizzard explained several reasons as to why they were initially hesitant to remove this cap so early in the season, they claim to have heard community feedback on this front loud and clear.

The removal of the Conquest cap leads me to the second noteworthy decision Blizzard has made regarding structured PvP encounters this season. They’ve announced that they’re planning to reinstate the Spoils of War buff for the remainder of Shadowlands Season 4. This buff increases Honor gains by 40% and Conquest gains by 25% for all players participating in Battlegrounds and Arenas. The increased accumulation rates of these currencies will likely help many PvP players get their characters well-equipped with appropriate gear more quickly.

Lastly, Blizzard mentioned a change that’s actually already live concerning the Solo Shuffle Brawl. This form of structured PvP has had its minimum item level floor increased to 272 from 258. That’s every PvP-related change Blizzard has publicized at this point, folks! Personally, considering I’ve been doing my fair share of PvP combat lately, I’m glad to see the return of the Spoils of War buff. It’s not quite as preferable to me as another round of the Winds of Wisdom experience buff would be, but I’ll take it.
