Warhammer 40K Tacticus Gets Release Date

As someone who has just recently started delving into the expansive universe that is Warhammer: 40,000, I was quite interested in the games showcase that was released back in June. Amongst the wide variety of new projects announced by Games Workshop, Tacticus was one of the games that caught my eye despite being on mobile platforms. Development is led by Snowprint Studios, a Swedish team that previously developed The Legend of Solgard also for mobile platforms.

I’m a sucker for a fun tactics game and with eight playable factions and a heavy focus on narrative storytelling, this seems like a game I could dump a couple of hours into from time to time. Though I am hoping for the game to expand onto PC eventually, I’m content with it occupying the mobile space as I have found the official Games Workshop titles to be quite fun and polished.

Recently, I’ve been enjoying the Horus Heresy Legions card game (which is also available for mobile devices), as I’ve found the economy to be quite friendly to the free-to-play crowd while delivering a fully realized world with a ton of personality. Hopefully, Tacticus will carry over this aspect as nothing makes me drop a mobile game faster than a predatory pay-to-win economy.

Tacticus will be launching with PVE only, with the option for players to collaborate against bosses and join guilds. PVP will also be introduced into the game after the first week with the inclusion of an in-game event. Additionally, the developers have promised continual support after launch with additional units, heroes, and factions soon to come.

Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus will launch on August 15th and is available now for pre-registration on the App Store and Google Play. Players who pre-register will also receive exclusive rewards at launch.
