When I saw the press release for this, I said “What the Smurf?!” but in an excited way. I love The Smurfs. I think Smurfette was the original queen, leading all the Smurf men around by—well ok, that’s not super important. Anyway, developer Eden Games and publisher Microids have announced the newest Smurf game, and it is a doozy. Smurfs Kart will be an all-new racing game coming this Winter!

Here is what the press release has to say about Smurfs Kart: “It’s time to heat up your engines! Choose your Smurf – each one having their own kart and unique ability – and take part in wild races!

Start off strong, find shortcuts, use the right items at the right time to pass your opponents, and become the village’s best kart driver!

Play solo or with friends and family, should you be a beginner or the most trained driver… get the pole position and show others who is the fastest Smurf of all time!”

Eden Games is known for racing games such as Test Drive Unlimited, Need for Speed: Porsche, and V-Rally. Together with Microids’ world-class publishing, Smurfs Kart has a solid pedigree behind it as we gear up for a Winter release. No specific release date has been given yet, but as a fan of the Smurfs franchise, I am pretty excited.

We don’t know specifically if it will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive, but the announcement did mention that it will release on Switch both digitally and with a physical release. If you’re a Smurf fan, this is definitely something to keep an eye on, especially since it has the blessing of IMPS, the Global IP holder for the Smurfs franchise. IMPS is actually owned by the daughter of Pierre Culliford, who created the Smurfs franchise back in 1958.
