Although we had a smaller selection of games that came in June’s first wave, we learned of a lot more games coming soon to the Xbox Game Pass service during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. Perhaps as an offset to all of the announcements the second wave for June also looks a bit light at first. However, each of these games is more than capable of capturing your attention for hours on end. Let’s get into what we have to look forward to over for the remainder of June.
Two of the games are already available. First and coming to PC we have Total War: Three Kingdoms. This 2019 entry in the popular turn-based/real-time strategy series focuses on the “Three Kingdoms” period in China. Players control one of 12 different factions and can strive to rule China within a historically accurate mode or within the “Romance” mode which is based on the classic novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
Coming out alongside it for cloud and console is the Shadowrun Trilogy. This collection includes three turn-based RPGs: Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun: Dragonfall, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong. Each title is celebrated for its gameplay, characters, and unique setting which mixes cyberpunk with magic.
The next two games will be available on June 23rd. Coming to Console and PC through EA Play is FIFA 22. Although the next entry will be the final collaborative release between Electronic Arts and FIFA before they go their separate ways to make their own football series, FIFA 22 still saw the addition of new animations, gameplay changes, and updates to the popular FIFA Ultimate Team mode.
Those interested in a battle royale with combat based on martial arts and mythical abilities will want to check out Naraka: Bladepoint. Coming to cloud, console, and PC, the game puts 60 players in a free for all that’s inspired by the myths and legends of the Far East. Fast mobility and violent combat with various weapons make this a battle royale like nothing else.
On July 1st the final game in this wave will come out on cloud, console, and PC. Far Cry 5 is the 2018 entry for the series and is based around a doomsday cult in the state of Montana in the United States. It added more melee weapons and a mechanic to tame wild animals for assistance among other new gameplay additions. If you’d like to know more, you can read Keiran’s review here.
While that’s the last game to come out for this wave, there was a couple that was added at the end of last week with Omori and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. You can read Mike’s review of the latter here. As for what games will be leaving this time around, you have until June 30th to play the following: FIFA 20, Jurassic World Evolution, Last Stop, and MotoGP 20.
