Look out, here comes the Spider-Man! Well, in about two months’ time, anyway. During the Sony “State of Play” event that took place yesterday, Sony confirmed that Insomniac’s Spider-Man Remastered will be making its way to PC later this summer. What’s more, although this wasn’t specifically stated during the event, the PlayStation Blog confirmed that the original title’s follow-up, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be joining it on the franchise’s newest home not too long thereafter.

Miles Morales‘ jump to PC was given a less-specific release window of “this autumn,” but the original title is slated to release on Friday, August 12th, 2022. Personally, I find this whole scenario fairly humorous because Sony publicly stated on at least two occasions that these titles would remain PlayStation exclusives permanently. Even so, I’m glad to see these two web-slingers make their way to my preferred gaming platform alongside the likes of God of War’s Kratos and Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy.

That same post on the PlayStation Blog confirmed that both games will feature both controller support as well as mouse and keyboard controls. I’ve never played either of these previously console-exclusive titles, so I don’t know what to expect in terms of controls. However, I’ve played a few PC remakes and remasters of console games before and been very pleasantly surprised, so I see no reason to cast doubt at this point.

Sony also recently expressed their desire to reach a target of $300 million USD in earnings solely from releasing ports of their first-party titles on PC between now and March of 2023. I must say I agree with the general consensus I’ve seen on this matter, which is that the pair of Marvel’s Spider-Man titles will almost certainly help get them to that point. I just hope they realize that gamers like myself want to keep seeing high-profile games like these released on PC, and that Sony will continue to oblige us on that front.
