The past few Nintendo Direct presentations have been notorious for dropping games on the day of the Direct. It is almost a tradition by now that at least one game gets a surprise release. As such, I started thinking about what surprise releases we could get next or maybe even just surprise announcements?

There have been rumors running rampant for ages about Fire Emblem games being in the works aside from Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Granted, I don’t necessarily think they would just shadow-drop a Fire Emblem mainline game or even a remake. All the same, I would love an announcement for a Radiant Collection (Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn) on Switch, or the long-awaited next installment in the franchise.

Alternately, something much more likely for a surprise release would be something like Hollow Knight Silksong. This is definitely wishful thinking, but Team Cherry has been incredibly quiet about Silksong for a while. In fact, I don’t think we have seen so much as new footage of the game since its initial announcement, other than concept art here and there. That would be a great way to surprise fans or at least blow people’s minds with a surprise.

Another option is Persona 4 Golden as a Nintendo Switch release. Now that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is available on the Switch platform, this would be the perfect time to announce the full story all on one platform. A surprise announcement for Persona 3 on Switch would also be cool, considering I don’t know of any platforms that you can still play Persona 3 on, other than if you own the PSP version or the original console release.

Bayonetta 3 is still slated for a 2022 release. While we haven’t gotten much more than a short gameplay trailer, I wouldn’t put it past Nintendo to either shadow-drop a release date or even just toss out a full release. Truth be told, there are a lot of possibilities for new launches or announcements, but these are just a few of the ones I considered.

Are any of these super likely? No, not really. They’re all in the realm of possibility, but I wouldn’t say any of them are a sure thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if any surprise releases that Nintendo drops are completely different. A lot of these are definitely up for announcements and closer looks though. What are your current predictions for the next Nintendo Direct? We don’t exactly know when it will be, but a short one in May makes sense before the usual June direct.
