I’ve covered Rogue Legacy 2’s Early Access period a few times. However, with the full release of Rogue Legacy 2, I couldn’t help but talk about it again. Rogue Legacy 2’s Early Access period started out in August of 2020, and after over a year and 4000 ‘Very Positive’ reviews on Steam, it is finally available in full. You can now purchase Rogue Legacy 2 on PC and Xbox consoles, with presumably more platforms coming later on.

Rogue Legacy 2 attempts to improve on every aspect of the original game. This includes a new art style, new weaponry, new abilities, classes, traits, biome generation, and more. Here is what the developers had to say about the game building on its predecessor.

Rogue Legacy 2 is more than just a sequel to our studio, it’s the culmination of all that we’ve learned over the last nine years since the release of the original. We’ve put everything we have into it, and knowing that fans both new and old alike will be experiencing it for the first time is incredibly humbling. We hope it brings the same sense of joy and discovery the original gave so many years ago

There are also vast accessibility options added to the game in order to make it more customizable for varying types of players. Rogue Legacy 2 also has Heirlooms, which add permanent abilities to your characters in order to aid the Metroidvania style of the game. Overall, it is clear that the dev team has worked hard to build this sequel and has even added to the lore and story to make future runs even more engaging.

I bought Rogue Legacy 2 a while ago, but I intentionally waited for the full release so I could experience it in full. I’m excited to traverse the castle, or whatever environment they throw at me, with generations of heroes. I’m sure there will be a review up on the site at some point too if you’re interested. Either way, Rogue Legacy 2 is available for PC and Xbox, so if you’re ready to explore another family mystery, check it out!
