First launched in May 2016, the Bethesda Launcher was Bethesda Softworks’ attempt to provide a launcher, storefront, and social platform for their titles. It never limited its titles exclusively to its own ecosystem and away from Steam, nor did it go on to introduce separate subscription services as other publisher-based launchers such as Ubisoft+ or EA Play did. Instead, it has remained supported this whole time.
We recently learned, however, that their launcher won’t be supported for much longer. It was announced a couple of months ago that the launcher would barely be making it to a sixth anniversary before it would be sunsetted on May 11th. Players will still be able to start up the launcher and access their library, but they won’t be able to play any of their games on it.
đź“ŁATTENTION PC PLAYERS: You may now begin transferring your Library from the Bethesda Launcher to Steam.

This doesn’t mean any games that have been purchased on the platform will be lost into the digital ether though. All of the games in a player’s library on the launcher will be able to migrate over onto Steam as of April 27th. Saves should automatically migrate as well, but some games such as Wolfenstein: Youngblood may require manual or extra steps. Any funds in a player’s wallet can be migrated over too.
The process to migrate everything can be accessed in the tweet above along with a handy FAQ page. Said FAQ page does specify that Bethesda.net accounts will still be used with the following: “For games that require it, you will still use your Bethesda.net login to sign in to play. Your Bethesda.net account will not be lost and will still be accessible on our website and in-game, and we will continue supporting all Bethesda.net accounts with our future titles.”
Players don’t need to worry about transferring their library before May 11th, as they will still be able to begin transferring their games after the launcher is phased out. If they’re planning on playing any games after, it would save a lot of time to begin the migration sooner than later because they will need to redownload and install the games through Steam.
