The adorable world of Bugsnax enchanted players when the game came out back in November 2022, mostly because of the cute visuals spearheaded by its eponymous creatures which are half-bug and half-snack. An immensely catchy theme song by Kero Kero Bonito, well-written characters, and some heavier topics only sweetened the experience for many. System and storefront exclusivity prevented it from reaching a bigger audience though. Currently, the game is only available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and the Epic Games Store.

That’s all changing later this month when it expands to pretty much everything else. On April 28th, Bugsnax will be released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch. Back in August, the developers revealed in a tweet that the game would be coming to Steam in 2022. The Steam store page has now been changed to reflect an April 28th release date to coincide with the other platforms.

As if coming to the rest of the current platforms wasn’t accessible enough, a huge audience of players will be able to check it out for what feels like free. The game will be available on that same release date in a couple of weeks on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.

Accompanying this huge platform expansion is a huge content expansion in the form of The Isle of Bigsnax. First revealed back in the October Sony State of Play, the content update includes a new area filled with new and giant Bugsnax creatures as well as three hours of story/quest content. Additional features include hut customization and the option to place hats on Bugsnax you’ve collected.

This is looking to be a pretty substantial update for the game and the most appealing part of it is that it’s free. Whether you’re a returning player or someone looking to play the game for the first time, you can look forward to experiencing the update on the same day the game releases to other platforms.

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
