I think we’ve all heard the song and dance by now. A lot of Action-RPGs that have the word “soul” in their name tend to emulate a specific style popularized by FromSoftware. In the wake of Elden Ring though, I think this concept might have a new gold standard. Regardless, Unsouled is an Action-RPG from Megusta Game and publisher NEOWIZ that will be released very soon.

In fact, thanks to a press release provided this week, we now know that Unsouled will release on Game Pass for Xbox, PC through Steam, and Nintendo Switch on April 28th, 2022. It will be available for $19.99 USD at launch and aims to be a challenging ARPG with brutal, fast-paced gameplay surrounded by stylish pixel graphics.

Here is what the press release says about Unsouled: “Unsouled tells the story of a prince from a collapsed empire that has the ability to absorb the souls of the dead and grow in power. The world is haunting and full of hordes of dangerous beings though, so it’s vital to chain together combos and counter enemy attacks if you want any chance of surviving. The battles are fast-paced and require great timing and skill to proceed in the game.

Also, here is what the press release says about Megusta Game: “Megusta Game is a one-man development studio based in South Korea. Starting his career as a private banker, Jin Sub Jung decided to go all-in for his passion for making games about 8 years ago. Unsouled is his debut title and already won the “Grand Prize for Production” at GIGDC 2020 and the “Made with Unity Award” in Korea.”

Souls fans in a drought after finishing Elden Ring might be interested in Unsouled. Otherwise, fans of games with a bit of difficulty and pixel graphics will probably want to take a look here. Regardless, Unsouled looks great and seems to have a good premise going.
