I mentioned it a few times last year. I love chill, relaxing City Builders. Specifically, games like Dorfromantik, which allow you to stretch your creative muscles in a relaxing, low-stress environment. After a successful Early-Access period, there’s finally a full release date for Dorfromantik.

During the last Future Games Showcase at the end of last week, Toukana Interactive revealed their full-release date for Dorfromantik. I didn’t know that the Future Games Showcase was taking place until after the fact, which makes this announcement a pleasant surprise.

Here’s what the press release has to say, courtesy of Toukana Interactive. “Happy birthday Dorfromantik! The game was released on Steam Early Access one year ago on March 25th 2021. Since then the game has seen frequent updates, such as the new Halloween and winter biomes, a creative mode, and the most requested feature of all, the glorious Undo button.

The story of Toukana Interactive feels like an indie fairytale: Four students band together and develop a game during their studies. The game takes off and is loved not only by its players, but also finds critical acclaim, winning multiple prestigious awards such as ‘Best Game’ at the German Developer Awards.

While players enjoy the freedom the Creative Mode offers, the team at Toukana Interactive are planning their next steps. The game’s 1.0 release on April 28th marks a big milestone for the studio, but their indie journey has only just begun.”

I’m excited to see what comes next for Dorfromantik beyond the 1.0 update. On top of that, I think the team at Toukana Interactive will likely go on to have a bright future in the industry. Their willingness to take community feedback definitely helps to endear people to their work as well. If you haven’t checked out Dorfromantik yet, you’re totally missing out.
