Crack is cool and all, but have you tried Elden Ring? (Don’t do drugs kids.) Of course not, by the time this goes out the game will be still a few short hours away from the official release. However, yesterday, reviews dropped (including mine) which means two things: I can’t call in co-op help as the servers were switched off 48-hours ahead of release, and the pre-loads for Elden Ring are now available everywhere as the servers are offline. As we noted the other day, console and PC releases worldwide were revealed by the Elden Ring Twitter.

While Xbox players could pre-load Elden Ring early, PlayStation and Steam players can also now download the 30-60GB. On Xbox One, you’ll need at least 30-ish GB though Series X/S users seem to need 49GB free. PlayStation 4 users need about 40-45GB, while PS5 users (all four of you) need only 45 GB, according to @PlayStationSize. Meanwhile, according to the requirements over on the Steam page, PC users seemingly need a whole 60GB to view the level of body horrors and spin shivering atrociousness thanks to tentacled monsters that have kept me awake at night.

Though, with only a few hours left until release, early reviews are unsurprisingly glowing as Metacritic boasts Elden Ring‘s “universal acclaim” with a score of 95 based on 36 reviews on PC alone. PC GamerComicBook.com, and others provided a similar score to my own, while IGNEurogamer, and Polygon gave either flawless or near enough reviews.

It is my personal opinion that it is one of the most accessible, yet still one of the most enjoyable games. As a fan of the typical From Software game, it is a great evolution of the formula. It achieves the ambition of an open world with such depth and the complexity of combat, and yet through the familiarity of it all, Elden Ring is a phenomenal game. I know for the foreseeable while, every free minute I have available I will be traveling the Lands Between. I know many others can’t wait to as well. The wait is almost over.
