It’s pretty expected for a multiplayer FPS or some free-to-play games to feature battle passes in both the free and paid variety at this point. It’s an easy way to add cosmetic content that people want and of course, it invites them to spend more money. As Halo Infinite sits in both of those categories, it’s no surprise that it has one. There has been one aspect in particular for the game that has seemed lacking compared to others though, which is when it comes to earning credits.

In an update on Halo Waypoint by community manager John Junyszek, some of the bigger points of player feedback were addressed. This included changes to prices and bundles on the in-game shop as well as fixing the common issues players have had in Big Team Battle matchmaking and the related challenges. The recent shop update lists a $7 helmet, so we’ll have to see if they are truly taking price changes to heart. One exciting addition that was mentioned for the future however is that the next season’s battle pass will feature earnable credits.

Whether it’s any recent Call of Duty, Apex Legends, Fortnite, or even Rocket League, all of them feature battle passes that provide you with enough credits to purchase the next battle pass with. You’ll still have to play enough to level up most if not all the way to earn enough credits and a lot of the tiers that give out credits will be available only for the paid battle pass track, but if you do play a lot you could pay for one battle pass and then just keep on earning credits for the following passes.

This helpful reward isn’t available on the current battle pass for Halo Infinite. Although the game stands out from the previously mentioned by not having their battle pass content expire after a season has finished, the high prices in the shop and constant comparisons from the community seemed to have inspired a change. More information about how this will be implemented will be shared as season 2 approaches. Given that upon launch it was announced that the initial season is meant to last until May 2, 2022, it may be some time until we hear more on the subject.

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
