Monday, I was excited at the idea of Scott Pilgrim returning, and unsurprisingly, a Rogue-like/lite on Steam is leaving early access. Tuesday, A pixel-art 2D adventure is coming to the Switch. Wednesday, Xbox Live isn’t a place for your conspiracy to add the 28th amendment, another Rogue-like/lite is leaving early access, and a LEGO Overwatch 2 set has been delayed, much like the game. Thursday, Capcom canned the Capcom Cup and I’m curious if I can count more C-words here, and finally, Not For Broadcast is leaving early access too.

Moving over to the Epic Games Store, we’re doing another repeat, similar to half of the Winter Sale free games. However, I do like this one: Galactic Civilization III, or as I like to call it, Star Trek/Star Wars the game. Despite not covering them weekly here, I do love a good grand strategy game from time to time. Even my typical “No turn-based games, they bore the tears out of me” stance gets put aside from grand strategy and some other strategy niches. However, it may come as no surprise that Galactic Civilization III has me simply because there is space, multiple races, and I get to attempt diplomacy.

I said everything I needed to say the last time Galactic Civilization III was free on the Epic Games Store, and that’s the trouble with these do-overs. I don’t want to be repeating myself considerably, but I also have to tell you why it is something to pick up. As I often regurgitate when there is something I particularly don’t care for: If you are a fan of the genre, you’ll at least have a few hours with it, and otherwise, it is possibly something to get you into the genre. Ultimately, it is free and always worth picking up and having on hand if you want to try it later with a different mood.

All this week, you can pick up Galactic Civilization III on the Epic Games Store for free until the 20th. Maybe by then, I’ll be back to drinking coffee again and not have such a short fuse for next week’s game. As a Portal-like, Relicta is a physics-based puzzle-platformer released in August 2020 to generic review scores. At least it is colorful compared to its similar Portal-based imposter friends, it does have one issue I think comes with all the imitators. It’s trying to be Unreal Engine pretty without the substance. Anyway, onto next week where I’ll continue to have a sorehead and end up angry or short-tempered again.
