Since its release back in 2016, American Truck Simulator has been slowly plodding along the road of the US, adding new states regularly. As my review of SCS Software’s 18 Wheels of Steel: Haulin would tell you, I do love a good long trip across the continental US, some of Canada, and I think one of those mid-00s games had a touch of Mexico too. Since I last spoke about American Truck Simulator‘s additions to the map, Colorado was added last November, and Wyoming came into view this September. Next up, according to SCS’ Twitter, is Montana.

There is no date given for when you’ll be able to drive the state best known for bears stealing pic-a-nic baskets. Sharing a few images and details over on the SCS blog, the team talked about the rather distinct plant life of the state, the views, and the landscape in general, making for interesting roads and trails. Following Colorado and Wyoming, it will make for the ninth state added since launch coming after Arizona, New Mexico, Oregon Washington, Utah, and of course, Idaho last July. Back in March, the team also announced what is easily their largest undertaking within the map, the gargantuan monster that is Texas.

Neither of the upcoming states have been given their upcoming release dates, and moreover, when Texas was announced in March, SCS stated they couldn’t commit to a 2021 release either. That is understandable given the size and the detail the studio tends to go to with every bit of the maps for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. Personally, I’m just waiting until 2026, when it is all done and I can start my trucking fetish again.
