Lately, I’ve been looking for games that are a little different. Specifically, I’ve been keeping an eye on games that stimulate my brain, or that stretch different skills than my usual skillset. Pakistani developer Playdew seems to have something interesting on their hands with the release of the newest trailer for Lost Twins 2.

Now, I haven’t played the first one, in fact, I hadn’t even heard of it before working on this article. However, it seems that Lost Twins 2 gained some acclaim this year at the Big Indie Pitch, placing as the runner-up. It was also nominated for Best Puzzle Game by TIGA. Lost Twins 2 will be released in 2022 and has launched its first trailer.

Here is the info provided by the press release about the game. “In a nutshell, ‘Lost Twins 2’ follows the journey of Abi and Ben through a fantastical world filled with puzzles that combine a unique sliding blocks mechanic with classic platforming. The puzzles are designed to be fresh with lots of variety and no repetition.

Mehran Khan, Lost Twins 2’s Art Director, commented on the game, stating: “Each frame is crafted meticulously with pride―specific lighting techniques, thoughtful composition, and immense attention to detail mean that every single moment you spend playing ‘Lost Twins 2’ will be a feast for the eyes,”

Lead developer and designer Fawad Asghar also commented on the puzzles, stating that they are “painstakingly designed, with elegant solutions that will make you feel like a genius.” The team also made a point of mentioning that the game is meant to delight players with an emphasis on discovery, tinkering, and exploration as opposed to traditional conflict-based gameplay.

Personally, I think Lost Twins 2 looks very pretty, and I like the design from what we’ve seen in the trailer. Sometimes puzzle games can be a mixed bag, but Lost Twins 2 is definitely one to keep an eye on. Hopefully, it won’t be long before we have a full release date and more information.
