Adam Robinson-Yu, creator of A Short Hike, revealed an exciting announcement over the weekend. Previously mentioned in our coverage of the Wholesome Games showcase, A Short Hike is coming to PlayStation and Xbox consoles! It seems as though it will be coming sooner than many of us thought as well, and we finally have a release date!

A Short Hike will release on PlayStation and Xbox consoles on November 16th, for $7.99 USD. This will be the first time that these two families of consoles will be able to play the relaxing, chill experience of A Short Hike. Currently, at almost 7000 reviews on Steam, A Short Hike has an “overwhelmingly positive” rating, with 99% of those reviews being positive.

Here is what the press release has to say about A Short Hike. “Hike, climb, and soar through the peaceful mountainside landscapes of Hawk Peak Provincial Park. Follow the marked trails or explore the backcountry as you make your way to the summit. Along the way, meet other hikers, discover hidden treasures, and take in the world around you.

A Short Hike was developed by Adam Robinson-Yu with music composed by Mark Sparling. It first released as the Humble Original for the month of April 2019 with a full release coming out in July of that year on PC, and a Nintendo Switch version in August 2020.”

This next-gen (and current-gen) version will allow players to enjoy A Short Hike in 4K, and takes about 1-2 hours to complete. If you want to unlock all achievements or get everything, the developers suggest it may take about 4-5 hours instead. Regardless, I love the current surge of more chill, laid-back experiences on PC and console. This is a perfect game to check out for the holidays, either as a gift or as something to play alongside younger kids and family.
