You know, it has been a while since I moaned about something in a news article that wasn’t our weekly Epic (or monthly Prime Gaming) piece. It feels like a good stretch after a long day, doesn’t it? It is easy to pick at Marvel’s Avengers from Square Enix, as it has had quite a lot of trouble since its release last year. When it was revealed at E3, it was promised not to have microtransactions that affect gameplay, then earlier this year that promise was broken. However, around the time of release, it was revealed that there would be a Sony exclusive character, as Sony still owns the rights to one Marvel character. After 15-months however, the hope of that happening was drying up.
That was until yesterday, 15-months since it was announced and caused Taylor to cancel his pre-order, Peter Parker’s melted figure of an Avenger was revealed to be finally coming to the PS4 and PS5 version of Marvel’s Avengers on November the 30th. When it was first revealed, the assumption was that the web-slinging Avenger would be coming to the game in early 2021. Of course, that never happened. Though that seemed obvious when it was missing from the early post-launch roadmap.
As a treat for the three people still playing on PlayStation consoles, this might finally be something worth feasting on. His arrival bolsters the minuscule cast of melted wax-works of the not-so-toxic Avengers, which is only possible with the lack of that Pratt, Star-Lord, so far. However, some reviews mention that gameplay is lacking and players bled off rather quickly. So, it almost goes without saying, but his arrival might be too late. The microtransaction controversy only unfolded a month ago. Though, let’s be honest, it would be funny if somehow Crystal Dynamics made web-swinging better than what Insomniac did and equal to what Treyarch did in 2004.
