Well, I think we know what this will be dominated by. There will be a series of ads, music from people you’ve never heard of, several developers including Hideo Kojima showing up, and a fist full of trailers for games a year away. It must be The Game Awards! They were announced just yesterday to be coming later this year, on December the 9th. This year, it will be a full-scale in-person event in Los Angeles.

At the time of writing, there is no word if those attending the event will be required to wear masks, have proof of vaccinations, or have had a negative 72-hour COVID-19 test. We simply know the event is set to be similar to the pre-pandemic scale at the time of writing. This is your daily reminder, we’re still in the middle of a pandemic! Nonetheless, full-scale events have been taking place across the globe despite guidelines being put in place to protect people. Here is hoping there can be a few guidelines announced for those who want to attend Geoff Keighley’s now bi-quarterly showcase of adverts.

In all seriousness though, I’m sure some will be excited about showcases of upcoming games such as the new Perfect Dark, Ark 2, maybe the new Dragon Age, or Mass Effect? We just don’t know what is coming, and that’s part of the fun for some. I’m hoping for a good few minutes of Elden Ring, I might not be as bedraggled by the whole affair then. Though as has been the case with Keighley’s last few shows, I don’t want to be near it. I’ve had enough of his nonsense. Enjoy December 9th, I’ll be doing anything else, like summoning the anti-christ to get me Elden Ring before everyone else.
