It is nearly time for another Steam Next Fest, folks. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of what a Steam Next Fest entails, allow me to briefly bring you up to speed. A Steam Next Fest (formerly known as the Steam Games Festival) is a week-long event during which developers can showcase their upcoming games through such mediums as playable demos and developer Livestreams. There are typically upwards of at least a thousand individual games that participate in each Steam Next Fest, which can be a bit overwhelming for the typical Steam user.

That’s why I would suggest that if you know of any upcoming, not-yet-released games that you’ve got your eye on, you ought to add them to your Steam wishlist now or at least before the Next Fest begins. That way, you’ll be able to more easily keep track of those titles while the Next Fest is active and give yourself the ability to find any demos or other sources of information about the games that interest you.

I would argue that this strategy, and the Steam Next Fest as a whole, help to ensure that you won’t have to either wait for reviews to start rolling in once the titles in question are actually out or go in blind and take a gamble by pre-ordering them beforehand. Being able to personally play an excerpt of a game that has piqued your interest and/or watch its development team showcase it during a Livestream are great ways to figure out whether or not a game is worth your time.

Heck, past Steam Next Fests are the sole reason I discovered a few games that really have me excited. As a matter of fact, I’ve written previews of one or two of them here on Phenixx Gaming in the past, as have some of my colleagues. However, that’s quite enough of my rambling about the concept of the Steam Next Fest in general. I suspect you’re here because you want to know when the next one will occur, and I’ve kept you waiting long enough. The upcoming Steam Next Fest will start at 10 am Pacific Time on Friday, October 1st, 2021, and conclude at that same hour on Thursday, October 7th.

David Sanders is, at his core, a man who's just trying to get through his game backlog before the heat death of the universe, and yet can't seem to stop adding to said game backlog. He greatly enjoys many different varieties of games, particularly several notable RPGs and turn-based strategy titles. When he's not helping to build or plan computers for friends, he can usually be found gaming on his personal machine or listening to an audiobook to unwind.
