Since it showed up at the last Indie World showcase, I’ve been excited for TOEM. The photography-focused indie title has captured a chill, calm vibe, while also focusing on something that people have really rallied behind recently, photo modes. Games like New Pokemon Snap have brought photography-focused gameplay to the forefront. Luckily, we don’t have much longer to wait for TOEM’s release.

According to an announcement made yesterday, TOEM will release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on September 17th. It will release for $19.99 with a 10% discount for a limited time. Here is what the press release had to say about TOEM.

Set off on a delightful expedition and use your photographic eye to uncover the mysteries of the magical TOEM in this hand-drawn adventure game. Chat with quirky characters, solve their problems by snapping neat photos, and make your way through a relaxing landscape!”

I love the idea of snapping photos to solve puzzles. Recently I’ve been playing a lot of shorter puzzle-focused games, and there’s something to be said about relaxing with a game that will let you chill out and enjoy a shorter, yet calmer experience.

TOEM is developer Something We Made’s first major project. According to the press release, Something We Made “is a young and small indie game studio made up of three based in Sweden. Having all met at University, the team made up of Niklas Mikkelsen, Lucas Gullbo, and Elias Albrecht want to make cool games that are something of their own kind.”

If unique, cool, cozy games like TOEM are in the cards, I think Something We Made is setting itself up for a great position in the indie gaming market. Keep an eye on us here at Phenixx Gaming, we’ll hopefully have some content for TOEM at some point in the future. I know I’m definitely excited to give it a try.
